In a world awash with polymer-frame, striker-fired pistols, the Ruger SR9c stands out as uniquely Ruger. Rarely does Ruger create truly groundbreaking firearms but rather takes established design features and crafts a marvelous refinement that is both highly affordable and appeals to a wide range of different needs and tastes. Excellent for concealed carry, home defense or even law enforcement and security duty, the SR9c is truly an every day pistol for the every man (or woman!).

Like with any popular firearm, a number of accessories have been rushed to market. Some good, some questionable and some downright laughable. We grimaced over the gimmicks and laughed over the absurd so you don’t have to, so check out our list of the 4 best Ruger SR9c accessories.

Traction Grip Overlays

One thing is certain about Ruger pistol grips, regardless of model. You hate them, love them, or are utterly indifferent to them. I think many people fall into the latter; I know I do and for good reason. Like most things Ruger puts out, their grips are usually strictly utilitarian and may do the job, but not particularly well. Fortunately, the functional but mediocre SR9c grips can be readily improved with these grip overlays. Offering much needed textured gripping surfaces, these overlays are a most have for people who shoot with gloves, have sweaty hands, may be shooting in wet or damp weather, or who simply may want a little more control over their gun. Absurdly affordable and easy to install or remove, you risk little trying these out, but may gain a whole new appreciation for your SR9c.

Crimson Trace Red Laser

Once the stuff of science fiction and cutting edge military technology, laser-equipped guns have become downright common. Offering the critical ability to rapidly aim and to know just where your rounds are going to hit, laser sights are popular with defensive shooters, law enforcement, and anyone who knows they absolutely must make every shot count.

Crimson Trace, a leader in the handgun laser sight market has not forgotten the SR9c, and offers this wonderfully designed bolt on laser (see full specs) that fits over the front of the SR9c triggerguard. Lightweight, unobtrusive, and built for years of daily use, this is a great Ruger SR9C mod period.

Adjustable IWB Holster

A good handgun deserves a good holster and one as concealable as the SR9c deserves a great inside the waistband (IWB) holster. Here we have a custom-molded and shaped IWB holster that fits the SR9c like a glove. Adjustable for fit and comfort, making it suitable for all body types and compatible modes of carry, this is a professional grade holster at a rather affordable price.

Finding a good holster can be difficult and making sure it fits right can be even harder, but with a top notch adjustable holster, those problems go out the window. Made of durable Kydex, this holster (see full specs) will not rot or dry out like leather, and yet is comfortable enough to wear all day. A fantastic investment for your pistol and certainly one of the best Ruger SR9C accessories out there.

TRUGLO TFX Handgun Sight Set – Ruger SR

While I can’t hate on the Ruger SR series included sights, I can say there is a bit of room for improvement. Tru Glo makes an excellent and affordable sight setup system that gives you outstanding performance. These high visibility sights are night sights that glow without the need for light exposure.

The front sight features Tru Glo’s focus lock technology that makes them easy to pick up, and easy to see. These sights are made for defensive use, and the SR9 C is an excellent concealed carry gun, so they fit together well. Regardless of the shooting conditions, these sights are among the best Ruger SR9C accessories you can buy.

Customizing the SR9c

Out of the box, the Ruger SR9c is ready to go. It is accurate, functional and a person could go their entire life without changing a thing. However, if you are the sort of person who likes more than just stock performance and knows that most any manufactured item can be improved on and customized, then the SR9c is a great pistol for you. It’s a terrific gun to customized, much like a firearm version of a Ford Mustang or Jeep Cherokee.

When I get a new handgun, the first 3 things I accessorize are the grips, the sights, and the holster. Most factory grips are not a good fit for me, and I know plenty of other people feel the same way. Even minor customization there can make a huge difference.

Handguns’ factory sights, needless to say, are often subpar, and with so many great and relatively inexpensive options out there–tritium, fiber optic, tritium with fiber optic–it’s a no-brainer to replace them.

However, all that is pointless if I don’t carry the gun, and I won’t carry it if I don’t have a good holster. While IWB holsters are popular with some, my own preference is a good outside the waistband holster, but invariably I’ll wind up with several. Few holsters are truly universal and if you carry your gun a lot, you’ll probably wind up with several different kinds of holsters too.

Once you’ve taken care of your holster, sights, and grips, the sky is the limit, ranging from aesthetics to hot-rodding. We are fortunate in that there are so many Ruger SR9c accessories, and a great many of them are inexpensive and easily available online.

We are enjoying a golden age of affordable guns that are highly customizable, and it is now possible to build guns for everyday use that a couple generations back would have been the realm of custom gunsmiths and wealthy clients, and the your pistol is no exception to that wonderful world of upgrades. And we hope with this article, you’ve found the best Ruger SR9C accessories for your needs. Good luck!

  1. Had & SR9c 6+ years now. Overall I really like it. Carries well & shoots well & I don’t have to worry much about RUST (rain, snow or sweat)! Yea on the IWB holster. Not so much on your ‘Do-Dad’ Truglo sights or Laser ‘jigi’. As a ‘Reloader Addict’ myself, this gun has a ‘mini’ firing pin & spring spring design (lending to light primer strikes). Clean & inspect the firing pin & spring frequently & use oil ‘very sparingly’. A slightly stronger spring is recommended or at-least a factory replacement occasionally would help. Use softer (non-chromed) primers when reloading for it (I like Win. WSP), NO CCI 500 s. This is NO Beretta 92 which has a strong firing pin/spring syst. (I have one).
