The Jerry Miculek Mossberg 930 is one of the more interesting semi-auto shotguns. Designed for either high-speed competition or home defense, the JM 930 is an incredibly well-made shotgun . . . but even it can be improved.

Luckily, the shotgun has a strong following and there is a large accessory market for it. Like all guns, the 930 JM can be overloaded with crap. When accessorizing the shotgun, you should consider how useful the accessories actually are. The shotgun as a platform has a number of weaknesses that can be addressed through accessorizing.

The 4 accessories chosen here are picked to overcome those weaknesses. They are, in our humble opinion, the best Mossberg 930 JM Pro accessories on the market.

Tacstar Side Saddle

Although the JM Pro 930 can hold more shotgun shells than usual, it is still limited in its capacity. When running a shotgun, you have to be on your toes and able to rapidly reload the weapon to keep in the fight or in a game. This side saddle by Tacstar allows the user to have six extra shells on hand. These sit on the left hand side of the shotgun and allow for a quick and easy reload.

Even on the move, the side saddle makes it quick and easy to both reload the tube of the shotgun or go directly into the chamber for a speed reload. The Tacstar side saddle also holds the rounds very securely. They don’t shift, fall, or slide out of the sidesaddle even when you’re running and gunning. The Tacstar side saddle is made from polymer so it is resistant to denting, bending, and rusting. The backing plate is made from aluminum to allow smooth and easy mounting.

The JM Pro 930 is quite modular and this side saddle is mounted directly to the receiver through two bolts. One will replace your trigger pin. The only downside is you cannot over-tighten the side saddle onto the receiver, which might cause malfunctions. Take the time to go out and shoot the shotgun and adjust as needed. With this precaution in mind, however, you’re sure to find this one of the best Mossberg 930 upgrades around.

The Burris Fastfire 3 and UTG Scope Mount

The Mossberg 930 JM Pro does not come with a scope mount like the Mossberg 930 SPX. However, it is drilled and tapped for a scope mount. Mounting a scope therefore is quite easy, and the UTG Scope Mount (see full specs) is an excellent option (yes, it says it’s for Mossberg 500’s, but it’ll fit the 930 just fine). It’s robust enough to withstand the recoil and stay put but small enough to stay out of the way of a side saddle. The UTG is a picatinny mount and can accommodate a wide variety of optics.

On my shotguns, I like a small red dot optic. I don’t need anything magnified for a shotgun, and I like to keep my weight low. The Burris Fastfire 3 is a perfect choice for any shotgun and especially is a great Mossberg 930 JM Pro accessory. For one thing, it is far more effective than the bead sight for low light situations. The bright red dot is easier for the eye pick up and is also easier to use for extended ranges. The Fastfire 3 allows the user to remove the battery without dismounting the scope, and the battery itself lasts hundreds of hours.

The Fastfire 3 has three brightness settings, and has an automatic brightness adjustment system. There is a low battery indicator as well. One of the strengths of the shotgun is its close range power. At close range speed is king and the Burris Fastfire is the perfect tool to reduce the time from seeing the target to hitting the target. Needless to say, we consider this among the best Mossberg 930 parts period.

CDM Gear BM flashlight mount

The Mossberg JM Pro 930 is certainly a gun initially designed for daylight use. The bead sight is a poor night time consideration, and the lack of a rail system makes it difficult to attach any kind of tactical light or laser. The CDM rail adaptor is a small section of rail that is designed to attach to both the barrel of the shotgun and the magazine tube. It pulls double duty as an additional magazine to barrel clamp, and it has a small section of rail. The rail itself can be switched from the left or right hand side of the clamp.

This small section of rail avoids adding a lot of weight to the shotgun. Since the JM Pro 930 has a ribbed barrel, you cannot use a full encompassing circle mount, and have to use a half mount. The CDM mount is one such half mount and stays well out of the way of the ribbed barrel.

As a bonus there is a QD detach sling attachment point on both sides. So on one side you can attach the rail and throw a flashlight on, and the other side works as an excellent sling attachment point. This small section of rail can be invaluable on a shotgun designed for home defense. Want a super-useful Mossberg 930 JM Pro accessory? This is it.

Blue Force Gear Padded Vickers sling

One of my favorite slings of all time is the Blue Force Gear Vicker’s sling. I’d suggest it for nearly every shoulder-fired weapon. The Mossberg 930 JM Pro and shotguns in general are not the lightest weapons, especially when loaded with 10 twelve gauge rounds. The Vicker’s sling, especially the padded variant pictured here, is the best option for a comfortable and capable sling.

A sling is a must have for any long gun, especially one being used for competition of home defense. The Vicker’s sling allows you to keep the weapon on your body through thick and thin. Should your grip slip, the shotgun stays on your body. A sling also helps support the weapon while doing speed reloads and takes some of the weight away.

The Vicker’s padded sling gives you a comfortable option for extended period of carry. The Blue Force Gears sling is compatible with a wide variety of different mounts available. This includes QD mounts, and more traditional butt stock mounts. This sling should be on anyone’s list of the best Mossberg 930 JM Pro accessories.

Go Pro

The Mossberg 930 JM Pro is a well built, versatile weapon that excels at home defense and competition shooting. However, you decide to build your weapon, it’s a good idea to recognize and try to address its weaknesses. If you follow that route you should be good to go!
